What is particle board

The raw materials used to make particleboard include wood or wood fiber raw materials, adhesives and preservatives, both of which account for about 95% of the board's capacity. Wood raw materials are mostly derived from logging in nature reserves, trail logs (generally less than 8 cm in diameter), logging residues, and log processing residues. Produce and process wood chips, shavings, wood wool, sawdust, etc. into blocks, strips, fibers, and granules, which are called scraps.

In addition, non-wood raw materials such as green plant stalks and seed shells can also be made into boards, which are named after common raw materials, such as hemp (particles) board, bagasse (particles) board, etc. The adhesive should use melamine formaldehyde resin glue and phenolic resin glue. Both have light fat color and low drying temperature. They often have excellent practical effects on plywood of various plant raw materials such as wheat straw and chaff. The pressing temperature is 205~260℃. It is widely used in manufacturing, but it releases the defect that mineral acid indoor decoration pollutes the natural environment.


The shape of the shavings is a fundamental element of the quality of the particleboard, so it is necessary to produce qualified shavings first. The shavings leftover from the log processing can be used as the core layer of the plywood through re-production processing. The surface shavings are mainly produced by cutting or processing high-grade residues (wood truncation, board edges, etc.).

The length, thickness, and width specifications of the shavings vary depending on the manufacturing method and the core layer or surface used to make it. The production equipment for shavings includes chippers, reshredders, electric grinders and chemical fiber separation equipment. Drilling methods include drilling, breaking and crushing. In order to obtain high-quality shavings, it is necessary to go through the whole process of initial crushing, grinding and polishing, re-crushing and screening.
